CVC athletes recognized by High School Heisman program

Led by Berkshire’s Lucas Stoddard, 13 athletes from the Chagrin Valley Conference earned recognition from the Heisman High School Scholarship program presented by Acceptance Insurance.

Stoddard earned a state award, granted to one high school boy and girl from each of the 50 states. As a state winner, Stoddard won a $1,000 scholarship.

As of Monday, Stoddard has moved on to the national finals. As one of 12 national finalists, he’ll receive a $2,000 scholarship.

The national winners—one boy and one girl—each receive $10,000 scholarships from Acceptance Insurance.

National winners will be announced on Dec. 1.

Eligibility for the High School Heisman Scholarship beings with each student-athlete maintaining a weighted grade point average of 3.0 or better. Each applicant must participate or have participated in at least one sport recognized by the International Olympic Committee, the Paralympic Games, or the National Federation of State High School Associations
